While Chelsea and King’s Road residents campaigned against the possibility of a new station, Fulham residents and H&F council prepared to welcome it to Imperial Wharf.

However it is not to be .The Crossrail 2 station at Imperial Wharf was considered but the analysis has found that the case for serving the King’s Road is stronger. The Imperial Wharf option would require tighter curves, this slowing the trains and increasing journey times.

The extra distance to go via Imperial Wharf , rather than King’s Road is around 1km. Underground sewer infrastructure under construction in Imperial Wharf area would also make tunnelling in that area more difficult
