This application will be considered at the Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday 20th March at 7pm. This meeting is open to the public. The Fulham Society has submitted two responses setting out the changes we feel are necessary. The latest response is attached here.
The works will require the Club to use a 60m strip of the adjacent public playing field in order to separate works traffic . The Society has written to express concern about this use as there is a covenant that restricts the use of field. Fulham Society is concerned about the use of Stevenage Park, Bishops Park and public access from Stevenage Road to the club rooms .
Fulham Footbal Club has submitted another planning application for the redevelopment of the riverside stand, raising Craven Cottage ‘s seating capacity by 4,300 to achieve an overall stadium capacity of 30,000 seats. It will also provide nine new apartments, new leisure and retail facilities and a new section of public access river walkway ( closed on match days)
Fulham FC has been consulting with local groups including Fulham Society for several years. The club intended to continue playing fixtures at the ground during the works that were originally to be completed in the summer of 2018. The Club received planning consent for re development in July 2013, subject to a river works licence being obtained. The Board of the Port of London Authority granted permission in March 2014.
The Fulham Society originally opposed the encroachment onto the foreshore and into the river as totally inappropriate as it would annex navigational waterway (the tidal River Thames) for a purely land use, as well as being contrary to The London Plan and the other relevant statutory documents. However it is accepted that the stadium must remain relevant
