The pub at 65 New King’s Road to be known by the new name ‘Brook House’ is due to open in February 2019 operated by the restaurant gurus best known for their nearby successes at The Cross Keys in Chelsea and The Sands End . The pub had been renamed in 2014 as The Eelbrook but this had clashed with the restaurant on the Common called the Eelbrook Bar and Grill (although this has been closed for sometime).
Given there were three other pubs nearby (The Lord Palmerston, The Hand and Flower and the Wandsworth Bridge Tavern) that have closed since No 65 was sold by the previous owner Greene King it is great news to see one of the grander pubs in Fulham re-opening for business.
Planning permission was granted for 6 flats to be accommodated within the upper floors of the building with a pub or restaurant on the lower floors . Building work started in June 2017 and was completed in October 2018. The six flats were all let and occupied in October 2018 .
A ‘pop up’ restaurant occupied the ground floor pub premises temporarily for a year from April 2016 . ‘Petite Terre’ Restaurant has taken a permanent premises near Tower Bridge and will continue to serve fabulous French wines , charcuterie and cheese http://petiteterre.co.uk/
The Eelbrook Pub ( originally known as The Peterborough Hotel ) at 65 New Kings Road was closed down and sold by Green King Pubs to a local long established landlord/builder. The pub is part of the Studdridge Street Conservation Area. It was popular locally and for eighteen months housed a flourishing small theatre upstairs, The London Theatre Workshop
The London Theatre Workshop has found new premises in Leadenhall Market in the City of London and opened its first production at their new premises in May 2016
