It is understood that a family trust has purchased Fulham Town Hall and that there will be design consulation meetings held in May 2019 – dates will be published as soon as known
No further developments have been reported . Fulham Society is seriously concerned for the condition of this listed building in the centre of Fulham and is writing to the Council for an update

In essence Dory Ventures, the American company under contract to purchase the building are challenging Hammersmith & Fulham’s stance on their scheme
Fulham Town Hall is reportedly back on the market without planning permission.
The application was refused by H&F Planning committee after very strong representations against the proposed developments by the Victorian Society, Historic England, Twentieth Century Society and the council’s own Planning Department.
Following the refusal, the applicants appealed on 15th January, requesting a public inquiry. We are waiting for the Planning Inspectorate to validate the appeal and then we will find out when the public inquiry will be.
The proposed scheme is available to view on the Hammersmith and Fulham Planning web site planning applications 2015/04022/FUL and 2015/0423/LBC. The decision document, explaining why the scheme was refused, can be found there.
American based retail and leisure group, Dory Ventures, was selected as the preferred purchaser for Fulham Town Hall in February 2012. A contract for the sale of the buildings was exchanged in early 2013, subject to a satisfactory planning permission. Jerry Spano of Dory Ventures attended the Fulham Society AGM in November 2013 to explain the scheme in more detail and members were able to air their views.
The plans include a boutique shopping arcade akin to Burlington arcade in Mayfair, a flagship store for Maclaren buggies and childrens products, a restaurant and 15-20 residential apartments. The Council Chamber is to be kept intact and will be available for hire.
Fulham Society position
The Fulham Society’s main concerns with the proposed development were:
- The extra floors on the 1934 building which would be very visible.
- The dramatic changes to be made to the façade of the 1934 building. This is by a very good architect, Walter Cave, who did much work in Fulham (this is his best local work).
- Future signage on the building.
The Society believes it is essential to take the historic and architectural importance of the building seriously and we were pleased that the Council Chamber, the Mayor’s Parlour and the wedding area were to continue in public use. We had no quarrel with the proposed minor changes to the furnishing of the Council chamber and the adjacent other rooms.
We will continue to monitor progress on the appeal and may submit further views as opportunities arise.
