Unsurprisingly the decision was taken during lock down that The Fulham Society would not be able to run the front gardens competition in 2020. However as it was so successful in 2019 The Society is very keen that it will take place again  in 2021.

The categories are

  • Best Front Garden
  • Best Planter or Planters
  • Special category – in 2019  this was best hedge !

Judging takes place in early July so that the winners and runners up are invited to the Fulham Society summer party  at Fulham Palace where the prizes are awarded.

Fulham was once known for it’s very fertile soil where market gardens and fruit trees thrived. Our gardens today can be just as productive.

Although our green spaces are a little more limited these days and with the spread of basement light wells and hard standing for vehicles  Fulham Society wants  to celebrate and encourage the tending of the beautiful green and colourful spaces that brighten up our public realm . We are also interested to see how, with imagination, an interesting front garden can be created at the same time as providing space for a car or a lightwell.

You don’t have to have a garden – there are  prize for planters, tubs or window boxes and hedges ! They do need to be visible from the road so that the judges can visit.

You do not need to be a Fulham Society member to enter .  It doesn’t cost anything to enter so look out for the information for the 2021 competition next Spring

Judging will take  place next June. Winners will be announced at the Fulham Society Garden party  in July 2021

We are looking for  a well designed , well executed space that gives pleasure to all who pass by and ideally has an impact all through the year
