The Castle Club, Broomhouse Lane
October 2019 – Plans approved to restore and develop the Castle Club, a Grade II listed building and use as a care home for Alzheimer sufferers.
Thackeray Estates was granted planning permission to restore and develop the Castle Club, a Grade II listed building into a care home in October 2019. Details can be seen here. http://democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/documents/s110715/The%20Castle%20Centre.pdf The work includes the restoration of the historic structure and a new three storey modern extension to the rear of the site to provide the necessary additional floor space (Ref 2019/00732/FUL). Darling Associates were appointed architects.
Thackeray Estates bought the building in 2016 and the original plan was to let the building to Fulham Prep to house a senior school. These plans were shelved in favour of the care home application. Originally called The Elizabethan School, it was built in 1854 as a school for local children. It later became a hospital for children with TB, a youth club and more recently a private home.
