Fulham Town Hall update

The long delayed redevelopment of Fulham Town Hall is set to restart, after Hammersmith & Fulham Council planners approved a Detailed Construction Logistics Plan, or DCLP, for the project’s future.
The plan, submitted by transport planning consultant Caneparo Associates on behalf of owner Ziser London, lays out the expected management of traffic during the construction period, with a strategy that aims to minimise the disruption to local residents, businesses and members of the public.
It also provides a new timetable for the development, which will see the Grade II listed former Town Hall, on Fulham Road opposite the Broadway shopping centre, become a 92 bedroom hotel with meeting rooms, bar/restaurants and spa, along with a new co-working space.
After buying the building in 2018, the developers originally planned to complete the restoration by 2021 and open the hotel the following spring. However, the project then appeared to have been put on ice, with scaffolding removed and the building remaining empty.
Now this new plan, which can be seen in full on the council website using reference 2021/03720/DET, shows work on the building’s substructure, including the underpinning of the existing foundations at basement level, is due to begin this week and continue till spring 2024. Works including the addition of new extensions, plant rooms, lifts and fire escape stairs, plus repairs to the roof and scaffolding of the facade to allow for refurbishment, will continue through 2024.
Fit out of the new 92 bedroom hotel is scheduled to begin in September 2024, and run through till the summer of 2025, when work creating the co-working space will also be completed.
The hotel is set to offer “hometel” rooms, most with their own kitchenettes, run by Hometel specialist room2, which already operates a townhouse hotel in Hammersmith.
The company says the future room2 Fulham will “deliver interiors designed to push the boundaries of artistic rebelliousness and juxtapose with the Grade II listed building’s historic façade, with each room individually curated to appeal to the diverse range of guests.”
When the deal with the hotel group was announced in 2020, Guy Ziser, CEO of owner Ziser London said:" We are excited to have room2 on board for its first high end location in London; we believe hometels to be a forward thinking product which will complement the other proposed uses within Fulham Town Hall.
