December 2019 – Planning permission renewed, basically the same as that approved in 2013. The stores closed in February 2020 and work is expected to begin.

In December 2014, developer London Newcastle was given permission to demolish the current building and create two new buildings of 10 and 12 floors together with retail and leisure space set around a landscaped central garden inspired by the traditional London square (ref: 2013/02870/FUL). A non-material amendment to the planning permission was submitted five years later and approved in December 2019. Currys and PC World/Carphone Warehouse, the stores on the site, closed in February 2020.
