A Walk around Fulham - celebrating 50 years of the Fulham Society

This 9 mile walk takes in the natural beauty of the riverside, 5 lovely urban parks, 4 tube/train stations, 3 peaceful burial grounds, 2 premier football clubs and 1 historic palace. It explores the diversity of Fulham’s residential areas and includes 50 points of interest, passing cafes and restaurants along the way.

Some parts of the route close at dusk and there may be daytime restrictions for runners (the route is about a third of a marathon). It is not suitable for bikes or scooters.

The route is divided into four easily accessible sections, each with its own downloadable pdf document containing a more detailed map and points of interest. There are a variety of start/finish locations providing shorter options for those who cannot walk the entire route. Transport for London have a useful journey planner. Click here.

Section 1: Putney Bridge to Imperial Wharf (2.5 miles)
This section, shown as a blue line, starts at Putney Bridge Underground station. It is a quiet part of the walk, going through several parks and residential streets before reaching a vibrant riverside section with views across to Wandsworth. The walk reaches Chelsea Creek, the border with Chelsea, before ending nearby at Imperial Wharf Station.

Section 2: Imperial Wharf to West Brompton (1.7 miles)
This section, shown as a pink line, starts at Imperial Wharf Station. This is a diverse walk, going through some high quality new residential developments, then past Chelsea Football Club, before detouring into Chelsea to walk through the fascinating and beautiful West Brompton Cemetery before ending at West Brompton Station.

Section 3: West Brompton to the Riverside Studios (2.3 miles)
This section, shown as an orange line, starts at West Brompton Station. It is an urban walk through a great diversity of residential areas, bypassing the prestigious Queen’s Club, and entering an interesting and quiet cemetery before detouring briefly into Hammersmith to end at the fascinating Riverside Studios.

Section 4: Riverside Studios to Putney Bridge (2.3 miles)
This section, shown as a black line, starts at the Riverside Studios. It is mainly a river walk, opposite Barnes and is the site of the famous annual university boat race. The walk continues past Fulham Football Club, through Bishops Park and the ancient Fulham Palace. It passes some interesting parts of old Fulham before ending at Putney Bridge station.
