June 2021 - Planning and Development Control Committee has approved plans. It is proposed to demolish the existing building and build a 4 storey office building. Existing businesses would be given first refusal on returning to the newly-built offices and would receive a 20 per cent discount on rent. The new building will also include a café and co-working space and communal facilities for occupiers including shower and changing rooms. The café space will be open to the public. Ref. 2020/02271/FUL

September 2020 – Plans submitted for the demolition of this 1935 building and for a rebuild that will provide workspaces for small and medium sized businesses.

Imperial Studios was originally built in 1935 as the garage and works of the Imperial Gas Light and Coke Company. It is a long single storey building with a tall pitched roof with a tall pitched roof that makes it the equivalent height of two storeys. It is an interesting building, historically linked to the running of the gasworks site, and is of a sympathetic scale to the adjoining buildings in Imperial Square and Harwood Terrace.

The Fulham Society will be sorry to see the old buildings go as it provides an attractive entrance to Imperial Road but we realise that the building is not in good repair and we are pleased the redevelopment of the site will provide workspaces for small and medium sized businesses.

However, we are less happy with the design of the proposed building: we find it somewhat top heavy and lowering (2020/02271/FUL). https://public-access.lbhf.gov.uk/online-applications/simpleSearchResults.do?action=firstPage
